Sometimes you find yourself at a loss, a loose end. Why? Because you've found a film that you think is sure to at least grab your attention in some way. A well hyped film that got it's fair share of buzz and praise lead by Ryan Gosling? After his strong performances in Drive and The Ides of March last year, I certainly went into this with some confidence that I would come out satisfied with at least a 7/10 film. But something about this film just didn't click with me at all. Maybe I wasn't in the right mood for it, maybe I need to give it another shot a few months down the line but all I could see in it was obvious shots at awards. Not to mention the fact that even 40 minutes in I didn't feel like the film was going anywhere, nor was it saying anything new or interesting too me. Admittedly, I'm willing to try again with Half Nelson sometime in the future because I almost blame myself for my lack of enjoyment of this. But right now, tonight, after watching it, I have not really enjoyed it at all.
